Efrosini Emmanuel Venardos (Katsavias) was born 1843, in Agia Anastasia, Kythera to parents Emmanuel Venardos and Martha Koroneos. At the age of 26 she married 18 year old Charalambos Panayiotis Chlentzos. The services were performed by Fr. Gerasimos Galakatos on November 9, 1869 at the church of Agios Vasilios in Christoforianika. Witnesses to the marriage were Charalambos’ father Panayiotis Nicolaos Chlentzos, age 60, and his uncle Giorgos Nicolaos Chlentzos, age 59.
Efrosini & Charalambos had four children; Kirani, Panayiotis, Diamandis, and my grandmother Maria. Maria, Diamantis and Panayiotis immigrated to California. Kirani remained in Greece. Efrosini died on June 24, 1935 in Katsoulianika, Kythera.
Charalambos Panayiotis Chlentzos was born on December 26, 1851 in Christoforianika. His parents were Panayiotis Nicolaos Chlentzos and Kerana Panayiotis Zaglanikas. Charalambos was a fisherman and he was lost at sea when his youngest daughter Maria was just a small child.
Panayiotis Nicolaos Chlentzos was born on April 1, 1799. He married two times. His first marriage was to the Athinia Paspalas, daughter of Costantis Paspalas. Their wedding certificate below indicates they married on January 28, 1826. They had six daughters; Maria, Eleni, Andriana, Diamanta, Stamatiki, and Charito. Poor Athinia passed away on September 19, 1940, leaving Panagiotis to raise all the children.
